Geometridae: geometer moths

This is probably the largest family of lepidoptera in Ecuador, but it has not been well-studied. They are very common on the walls around the Lodge in the morning, but often fly off if disturbed. Geometers are characterised by resting with their wings spread and held flat against the surface. They range in colours from green yellow to more complicated patterns of brown and grey. Most of the individuals here are not named, but some have been identified to genus, and a few to species.

The gallery below shows some of the species that have been recorded at the Lodge. Click on each photo to see an enlarged picture, the species name, and more information.
