Lasiocampidae: lappet moths

A family of over 2000 species worldwide, with about 700 in the Neotropics, and over 200 in Ecuador. They are covered in volume 15 of Mariposas del Ecuador. The book includes 158 species in the genus Euglyphis, including 115 that are un-named (Euglyphis sp1, Euglyphis sp2, etc), demonstrating that there is a lot of work still to done on the family. The resting position is fairly chracteristic, with the foreings of many species folded along the body and the hindwings poking out and held more horizontally.

The gallery below shows most of the species that have been recorded at the Lodge. Click on each photo to see an enlarged picture, the species name, and more information.
