How to get to the lodge

IT IS VERY EASY TO GET TO US
The Tandayapa Valley is one of the easiest places to get into great cloudforest habitat, and probably the easiest place to see the birds and other wildlife of the Chocó bioregion. The Lodge is less than an hour-and-a-half from Quito, along the main paved highway to Esmeraldas (the last 6km is up a quiet, unpaved backroad). Alternatively, you could come along the new Ecoroute along the old Nono-Mindo road, birding all the way.

THINKING ABOUT THE GALAPAGOS?
Most Galapagos tours have a day and a half layover in Quito - why waste the day in Quito when we can organise with your tour company to pick you up, take you to the Lodge, and drop you back at the airport for your Galapagos flight (and triple the number of birds you see on your trip).

ARRIVING IN ECUADOR
There are daily air connections to Quito from many major cities. Most flights arrive late in the evening, but a few (such as KLM) arrive in the morning. Book in advance, and there will be transport waiting for you at the airport.

BY CAR
It is easy to get to us if you have your own car (you do NOT need a 4WD). If you intend to come this way, please ask us for directions.

BY BUS
You can catch one of the regular buses to Nanegalito from Quito or Mitad del Mundo (c.$1.50). Get off at the Tandayapa turnoff (at km 52), and hitch the 6km to the lodge (an uphill walk), or continue on the bus to Nanegalito, and hire a taxi for the 11 km back to the lodge (c.$7).
