Green-crowned Brilliant

An uncommon visitor from lower altitudes. Males are all dark green with a blue-purple gorget. They could be confused with Empress Brilliant, but they are much shorter-tailed, bluer green, and do not have golden bellies. The females are speckled green below and have white tips to the outer tail. Female Empress Brilliants are speckled golden and green and are much brighter, without the white in the tail.
