The lodge project started in 1999 when it became apparent that there was no lodge designed for birdwatchers on the west slope of the Ecuadorian Andes. Rather than destroying more forest we decided to build in pasture on a steep ridge seventy metres from the forest edge. In the five years since, planting of over 30 000 trees has essentially brought the forest to us.
We now have a single building with twelve bedrooms and a spacious balcony nestled within the cloudforest. The lodge is designed so that you can relax in comfort after a day's birding. The rooms are near to the main lounge so there is no need for a hike between where you sleep and where you relax and eat. Rooms all have hot water, electricity, and private bathroom. Whether you come for the hummingbirds, serious birding, other wildlife, or just to relax while having brekkie with the birds or watching the fruit feeders, you will find this is the place for exploring the fantastic Chocó bioregion. But don't just take our word for it - read some of the reports written by our guests. For details of how to get to the Lodge, click here.
